Which part would be played by Stephen Miller, Howard Lutnick, Steve Witkoff etal? They seem more Bruno in intent but perhaps more Guy in his gullibility.
As always Ron, your writing is excellent and enjoyable to read. That said, DJT has always had A penchant for taking something positive and justified and spinning it into a positive outcome for himself. For that, I’m grateful. However, he also has a unique ability to go too far and attempt to spin it in his favour and in that I’m referring more to his financial ignorance as it relates to global economics. But when it relates to his immigration policies and in particular as it relates to clamping down on the idiotic protests on Ivy League campuses, I personally think they’re doing exactly what’s needed. Over the last 40+ years, Academia in all corners of the globe have gone too far and nothing justifies their actions or lack of actions as it relates to the disruptive activities of a minority of loud and as we all know, very well funded miscreants. You and your readers may not like what I’m saying, but facts ALWAYS speak louder than words.
I would think there area couple of basic rationales.
Some organizations support the Administration's *current Israel positions. And the social issue positions. And maybe their primary funders also support the Administration's positions.
Some organizations even if not wild about things; on the face of things; these are issues they "should" support.
And of course probably many are afraid of the Administration; aware that if it's comes to it and it's a choice between their view and the Administration; the Administration will will win. (And if one thought the Reagan Administration's tactics in the AWAC's fight or the Bush Administration regarding Loan Guarantees went "too far." Can easily envisage how a future fight might work out.) And maybe it's better to "work from within" or to limit public criticisms.
Of course for Jewish groups on the very left, there is no real political price for opposing the Trump Administration. And in fact quite a number of benefits for their organizations. And some are showing a lot of courage (or foolishness!)
But certainly the rush to embrace certain policies which taken just on their own merit - and forget broader issues and long-term implications seem problematic.
And the problem is there are quite a number of 'significant' "non friends of Jews" on both left and right.
No. Your fear mongering about due process is just something you can share with your fellow leftists as you ignore the fact that Mahmoud Khalil is getting due process and should have been deported in October 2023 after he started his hamas propaganda crusade.
If you think that antisemitism is just an excuse, then you haven't been paying attention.
Many jews are happy to see Trump Crack down on Columbia university nazis and their ilk. They are also happy to see Trump cut funding for unrwa and actually support israel instead of trying to both sides a war that started with mass murder and raping children.
They might hate his guts in many many other ways, but at least he's not Biden letting college campuses turn into nazi rally points.
Don't speak in behalf of people you don't know.
We know that Trump is shit but we are still relieved that kamala isn't handling campus nazis. Even those of us who voted for kamala.
Ron, I am so glad you are posting these things, things that you could not write when working for JTA. Thanks for the guts it takes to do that.

Brilliant analogy and so well written.

Not American Jews, just you. You do not speak for all American Jews. The arrogance on you.
Many Jews see the Red-Green Alliance of progressive and Islamists as the greater threat ignored too long by the Democratic party.
